The national dailies in Bangladesh contain lots of news about death or injury of patients due to negligence of doctors. Awareness must be created about the issue ‘doctor’s negligence or medical negligence’ so that both the doctors and ordinary people alike can get the protection of law. Though in the syllabus of the medical colleges, the subject ‘Forensic Medicine’ is included but ‘Medical Jurisprudence’ is not taught in most of the Law Faculties of the universities of Bangladesh. As a result though medical students know to some extent the provisions of law but the opposite should not be expected. My experience in Medical Jurisprudence:
Articles Published in Referred Journal: 1. Karim, Md. Ershadul “Examining Liabilities arising from Doctor’s Negligence” in University of Dhaka Studies Part F, Vol.-XVI (I), June, 2005. 2. Karim, Md. Ershadul “Health as a Human Right”, Bangladesh Journal of Law, Vol. 1 and 2, 2006. Resource Person: Bioethics & Law: Legal and Regulatory Codes, in the Certificate Course on Research Bioethics (CCRB) (Phase-I), Bangladesh Medical Research Council (BMRC) in 2003, 2004 and 2005. |
